We’re tired of patients, particularly women, being dismissed and unheard by their healthcare providers. Too many of us are tired, anxious, depressed, living in chronic pain, etc. with no answers from our doctors.

We’re told “your labs are normal”, “it’s a normal part of aging”, “just lose some weight and it will get better”, “here’s a pill for that”. No more!

It’s time to stop treating each symptom as an isolated incident and start getting to the actual root of the problem so we can begin to heal.

Taking a look at the mind, body and spirit holistically will help you heal from the inside out so these symptoms will lessen or go away completely without simply being masked by a pharmaceutical drug.

We’re not here to fix you. We’re here to walk alongside you on your journey to a fuller, happier and healthier life. We believe you deserve to live the life of your dreams. Your health shouldn’t be what’s holding you back. 

We provide the education, support, resources and mentorship required to step into the healthiest version of yourself. But you need to be ready to forget everything you know about “health and wellness”, be coachable, and do the inner work required to get there.   • PATTI SCHELL

    OWNER/ NURSE PRACTITIONER

    Patti has over 13 years of clinical nursing experience as an RN, BSN and FNP. Prior to starting her holistic health practice, she worked the front lines of COVID an in urgent care setting. It was at this time it became overwhelmingly clear to her that we are sick as a nation. She saw patients coming in day after day who already self-diagnosed themselves and already knew what prescription they wanted her to call in. She understood this mindset because she too has a story of feeling tired, anxious, etc. She would go to her doctor hoping to be diagnosed with a thyroid condition so that she would be prescribed a pill to help manage her symptoms. This is what we’ve been taught in the traditional medical model. But the traditional model is clearly not working for us. 

    As a mom of 5 and Mimi to 7 grandchildren, Patti began to realize there was a better way to help people. Instead of prescribing a pill for every ill and treating each symptom as an isolated incident as if the body’s systems were not designed to function together, she wanted to help people on the front end. What if she could see people BEFORE they got sick. What if she could help people free themselves of depression and anxiety and gain the energy required to live a full happy life. What if she could help people reduce their pain, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, etc. without the use of a prescription drug but with lifestyle medicine instead. Helping people to live longer, happier, healthier lives became a burning passion and thus Rise Above Wellness was born.

    HEALTH COACH

    My health journey began in 2006. I was a young mom with a 2 year old, working full time and going to school full time and trying desperately to lose weight for my upcoming wedding. I hated the way my postpartum body looked. I spent years chasing an unrealistic number on the scale, eating lean cuisines, counting calories, exercising to burn off what I had eaten, etc.

    Around 2010, after having two more babies, I found a much healthier version of myself. I fell in love with running and began to understand nutrition and eating like an athlete, exercising to improve strength and endurance, and living the example I wanted to for my now 3 children. In 2020 this came to a screeching halt as my depression kicked into overdrive. I didn’t have the will to get out of bed and brush my teeth, let alone get up and go for a run. I packed on weight pretty quickly as my nutrition went out the window and my body went into survival mode. I finally got help for my mental health at the end of 2020 and spent the next few years truly learning the holistic approach to health.

    Understanding that everything is connected and that managing my depression was not going to be as easy as simply taking my medicine. I needed to learn what true self care really was. I define self-care as having the wisdom and the discipline to do things you know your future self will thank you for. Now I have healthy coping skills, prioritize movement daily, prioritize nutrition, prioritize FUN, ask for what I need, etc. Today I live with less aches and pains, less anxiety and depression and more energy. I’m back to being the example for my kids that they deserve.

    I’m passionate about helping women prioritize themselves so they too can step into the best version of themselves. Helping them find solutions that are simple and achievable to finally stop the all or nothing approach they’ve been taking and finally achieve sustainable health inside and out.
